North
North
BISS/Am/Can/Int'l Ch Quinault's Northern Exposure CGC, WLDX, WTD WPD, WDXROM
North was my "dog of a lifetime". We called him the Center Of The Universe because he was certain that he was. The best leader, you could thread a needle with your team when he was up front. He loved single lead, and hated sharing the glory with anyone else up front. Although he has since passed, he is at the top of the list, sponsored by Mom, because he will never be gone. His legend lives on in his progeny and what he has brought to my team- the best working dogs I have. But more than that, he will live on forever in my memories and my heart!
Twila, aka Mom
Eve
EveQuinault's North By Northwest, WTDX
(1 major to Ch)
Eve is one of my North children, and one of the best! She is my main female leader, and has been since she was a youngster of about 8 months. Eve completed the miles for her WTDX in lead at less than 14 months of age, and so far has produced 9 young leaders out of 2 litters! To say that she is a star is putting it mildly.

Marsh
Marsh
Ch Quinault's North To Alaska, WTDX
Marsh is another of my North children, littermate to Eve, we affectionately call him "the Energizer Bunny" because he is rarely happy to rest. When he is ready to go, EVERYONE knows it! Marsh can run anywhere in team, and will even run lead if you really, really need him to, but he prefers to not have to think that hard!!

A word from Marsh's sponsor:
Deborah Dixon says: I've been a recreational musher for seven years. The sport is amazing and the bond with the dogs is incredible. My love of animals was instilled at an early age by my parents. One big regret I have is that my dad didn't live long enough to see me get involved with mushing. My father always told my sister and me that we could do anything we wanted and be anything we wanted, if we committed to it and then applied ourselves to succeed. I dedicate my sponsorship of Marsh to my father George, so that when Marsh runs in the greatest sled dog race, he will have a special fan looking down and cheering for him and the team, encouraging him, just as he did with me. With his energy and determination he will help the team succeed in its Run 4 The Red Lantern. Go Marsh!

Boss
Boss
Ch Quinault's Born To Run, WTDX
Boss is the hardest working dog I own. Period! He normally runs from wheel up to one or two positions in front of wheel because he is so danged powerful in those places. He is another dog that is not happy unless we are going, the biggest challenge with him is getting him to settle down and rest. I have never known him to take a break on the team, it just is not in his nature! He is named after Bruce Springsteen...

Mike Bradley
Kinky
Kinky
Bronze Gr Ch Quinault's Twisted Sister, WTDX
Kinky is, well, Kinky! She is an amazing sleddog as well as enjoying every bit of attention she can garner. She has ran every position from lead to wheel, and was one of my main female leads for many years. She is famous for coming into season right before any BIG event; Nationals, Westminster, big races, etc.. Her name fits her!!

A word from Kinky's sponsors:
From Ginger and Mike; While camping at a dog show, Twila told me about her new puppy. She knew that the kennel name would be Quinault's Twisted Sister, but was unsure of a call name that went with it. She asked me to think about it as she ran an errand, so I drank a glass of wine (or 2, maybe 3?) and came up with a name, one that I knew would embarrass Michele when little kids asked, "What's the dog's name?" The call name for Quinault's Twisted Sister had to be Kinky.

We are proud of Kinky's achievements as a working dog, a champion show dog, and an all-around sweetie. I was honored to be with Kinky and Twila in NYC for Westminster in 2010. Kinky moves powerfully and smoothly, she is a beautiful example of the breed and we are honored to be her sponsors.

Solo
Solo
Ch Stormkloud's Can Do It Alone
Solo came to us as a 5 year old dog from Nancy Russell of Storm Kloud Kennels, the only other malamute kennel in history to attempt the Iditarod. He is a sweet goofy guy, but had to learn our rules when he got here. He spent a lot of time upside-down before he realized that it was much more fun being right-side-up, and the rules he had to follow to remain upright:-) He is now a happy, productive, calm and responsive team member-and one of my hubby's favorite dogs!

A word from Solo's sponsor:
From Annika Card: I just had to sponsor him-he reminds me so much of my own sweet goofy guy.

Izzy
Izzy
Ch Stormkloud's Iz-U-Iz
Izzy came to us as a pup from Storm Kloud Kennels. Izzy is a crazy little girl, she is intense and driven, and wants nothing to do with anyone next to her playing what we call "grab-ass". She is a great asset both our team and our breeding program!

Mojo
Mojo
Ch Stormswept Ice Magic O Stormkloud
Mojo is another "grand-pup" and came to me as an adult from Stormswept/Stormkloud Kennels. His original mom, Jude, recently passed away from her 3rd battle with cancer. Mojo is a sweet, goofy, big boy that did not take to pulling right away. We blame the emotional attachment he had to Jude, because after her got accustomed to our ways he really got into it!

Poppy
Poppy
Gryphon Quinault's Slap N Tickle
Poppy came to us from Gryphon Kennels in Washington. She is a good puller, and works very hard at slower speeds and on hills. She has brought a lot to our team, birthing 4 of our BEST sleddogs! She has also passed her sweetness along to her kids!
Susan Crawford
Kaos
Kaos
Ch Quinault's Kiss This
Kaos is another Marsh/Hussy kid, and one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. He has never met a human or canine that he didnt like, and he always looks like he is smiling! Kaos always makes the "A" team, and I have had offers of up to 5k for him! I'm afraid Kaos is not going anywhere:-)

A word from Kaos' sponsor:
From Elizabeth Hirtler: Kaos is my boy and always has been; since the day crawling in the frozen mud to get him out from under the GMC because at 6 weeks he was already looking for mischief, and in -20 degree weather! He earned his name on that day.

Elizabeth Hirtler
Miss Piggy
Miss Piggy
Quinault's Pretty In Pink
(needs 1 major for CH)
Miss Piggy is an Eve daughter, and one of our best. She is a drivey, hard puller that will run anywhere. She has been up front and is doing well, will be an awesome leader in a year or so. Right now we have many leaders, and she is so powerful in team that we are keeping her there this year.

A word from Miss Piggy's sponsor:
I am sponsoring Miss Piggy because I love her energy and enthusiasm. She's ready to go before the rest of the dogs are even hooked up to the gang line. And Miss Piggy doesn't just run, she flies! She's a wonderful girl.

Stacie Kageyama
Sally
Sally
Quinault's Sally Wiggles
Sally is out of my retired leader, Isaak, and comes to us from Nuvakchina Kennels in Flagstaff, AZ. Sally's real name is Sally Wiggles, and she has a checkered past! When she first started running she was sooo easily distracted that I almost gave up on her. This year she has really matured and has made the team!
Heather Bryston
Havok
Havok
CH Quinault's Thunder Road
(3 majors, needs 1 pt for CH)
Havok is MY baby! and one of my favorites. He is goofy, sweet, giant boy like his dam, Poppy-who is ONLY outworked by his sire, Boss. Havok runs anywhere we ask him too, but he is so strong that we normally keep him towards the back of the team for the power.

A word from Havok's sponsor:
From Diana Reitz: Havok is quite the character...showing his playful spirit and independent mind. He makes people laugh and feel good with his goofiness as tho to say..."its ok to be different." He's a dog after my own heart.

Diana Reitz
Cali
Cali
Quinault's Glory Days
Cali is Havok' sister, and only slightly smaller than he is! Also sweet, she is one of the strongest girls we have and normally runs next to her brother. Cali will for sure be on the team with her brother!

A word from Cali's sponsor:
From Laurie McKinley Camody: Miss Cali (love the Buggers!) will be California's girl in this race! She can claim the entire state as her own cheering section! I love my Malamutes, and have seen that the female's spirit and love are often the guiding light of a pack. Go Cali-Girl!!

Laurie McKinley Camody
Sook
Sook

Sook came to us from a working kennel in Minnesota. He has ran lead on prior teams, and can run lead for us when we need him too. When we got him he had severe defensive aggression issues. We patiently worked him through his fear, taught him to trust us, and now he is one of the most solid of our dogs. Sook is extra special, and needs an extra special sponsor!

Dr. Annika Card says: "all Malamutes are special in their own way... they just have to tell you about it first and then they will get on with the job at hand"

Dr Anika Card
Enrique
Enrique
Quinault's Break Me Shake Me
Enrique is the star of the Eve children that run lead! He led through most of the Eagle Cap Extreme 100 miles, and he is Morgan's favorite! Enrique will crawl into your lap if you just smile at him, and he is another of the boys that are always smiling!
Nancy Macrayne
Enya
Enya
Quinault's A Day Without Rain
Enya is her mother, but less serious. She runs point mostly, it is her best position. She runs lead sometimes too, but can lose focus. I have high hopes for her for a future leader!

A word from Enya's sponsor:
From Kat H. Smith: In memory of rescue sleddogs and dogs across the country who just need a little love, a little hope, and a little help to find their way...
I sponsor Enya because of her connection to Sook, who has been down a long and winding road before coming to Twila, and aside from that, who doesn't admire a tough and capable little female malamute!
Good Luck to beautiful Enya!

Elvis
Elvis
Quinault's Hunka Hunka Burnin Luv
Elvis is another of the Eve kids that leads. He is a bigger boy, so he tires more easily than his littermates, but he is a good solid worker in any position we put him in. For this year he will run mostly in team, and start leading more often next fall.

A word from Elvis' sponsor:
Who else would a southern girl sponsor but a dog named "Elvis!"
I love the Iditirod and believe so strongly that a Mal team can do it. I am therefore very honored to have the opportunity to contribute to this great effort!

Janis
Janis
Quinault's Piece Of My Heart
(needs major for CH)
Janis is the 'cutey-patootie" of the team, she is always happy and bouncy like her dad (Marsh) but also a good worker. We have not tried her in lead, but we will after she matures a little. Right now she runs anywhere from point to wheel-happily!
Linda and Jphn Roberts
Jimi
Jimi
CH Quinault's Kiss The Sky
(needs major for CH)
Jimi is more serious than his sister, Janis, but otherwise shares the same work ethic. Jimi is usually one of the crowd favorites as he is very handsome, and seems to know it! If he were a human teenager, he would be the super-cool dude that all the girls love!
Shandi Mason
Staycee
Staycee
Storm Kloud's Still The Won
Staycee is one of our youngsters, a great grandbaby, and comes to us from Nancy. Her dam is Echo, Nancy's lovely North daughter (who I would steal in a heartbeat!!). Staycee is too young to make the main team this year, but we have high hopes for her next season!
Kevin Kelly
Amaruq Alaskan Malamutes
Savy
Savy
Quinault's Belle Savauge
Savy is another youngster, a stud puppy from Pam Fusco of Illusion Kennels in Michigan. Kaos is her sire, and she certainly fits the english translation of her name (Beautiful Savage). Too young to be on the main team this year, we have hopes that she will play an integral role next year!

Pam says: Savy is Quinault's stud puppy from our breeding to "Kaos". We are very proud of this young girl and the opportunity that she has to be a working sled dog as part of the Quinault team. We have high hopes that she will be an important part of the team next year, after growing up a little and maybe taking some time off to be a pretty girl in the show ring.

Liddy
Liddy
Nuvakchina Quinault's How D'ya Like Me Now?
Another of our youngsters, Liddy comes to us from the same kennel as Sally, Nuvakchina. Liddy took to harness work immediately, no hesitation! She is very serious for such a young dog, and it is now up to us to channel that drive and ethic without letting her burn herself out!
Michelle Podolak
Gracie
Gracie
CH Quinault's Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
One of the newest additions to our family-this is a special puppy! Out of Boss (hardest worker) and Eve (best leader) we picked the most driven, focussed and physically correct puppy.....our hopes for her future are enormous.....She was named for Grace Slick so....

Ozzy
Ozzy
CH Quinault's Flying High Again
Ozzy is my special little man. Littermate to Gracie, he is a strapping big boy with lots of personality. He reminds me the most of Havok, and if he has half of his half-brother's drive he will still have enough for the "A" team.

A word from Ozzy's sponsors:
We just had to sponsor Ozzy because his disposition, beauty and confidence (at only 3 months) was outstanding!!! If we hadn't have randomly met him the day we did, we wouldn't have been lucky enough to meet Quinault mals and their amazing owner Twila Baker, or been fortunate enough to own his sister. Meeting him has brought such joy and love into our lives. Ozzy is a star in our eyes, and we can't wait to see him shine on a team one day!!

Suuri
Suuri
Tsaani Shida At Quinault
Suuri comes to us from Tsaani Kennels in Finland, and is our prize from the lovely Yona bred to Timi, the best of the Kinky/Mojo litter who is owned by Anne Arvola and Marko Vesterinen. His name means "great" in Finnish...so he has a lot to live up to!

In May of 2012 we took in 8 malamutes from another musher in Canada. . They are sweet sweet dogs with fantastic temperaments and good physical characteristics-we look forward to working with them this coming season.
Logan
Logan

Logan is a special boy, and the first one of this group of rescues to make the team officially. We look for him to run on the main race team this winter.

Jack
(Monterey Jack)

Jack

Jack is pretty special-he shares his name with my beloved father. The sweetest of the boys, but still energetic and full of life!
Luana Reed
Colby
Colby

Colby is the calmest of the boys of this group-a thinker. Perhaps leader training is in his future?

A word from Colby's sponsor:
I've never met you but Mama Twila tells me you're one of the new guys and that you made the A team. Good going. But that isn't why I chose to sponsor you. The truth is that you share your name with my handsome grandson so therefore you have to be a special boy. Run, run, run!! - Donna Cooknell

Abby
Abby
Quinault's Wreck-Less Abandon, WTDX, WLD
Abby is ancient! A retired leader, was born in 1998 which makes her 14 years old!! My first North child, she is a treasured senior citizen around here. She is still running, well, stumbling, around here, free as a bird and enjoying her meals. She is mostly blind, mostly deaf, and almost completely senile (her nickname has become Crabby Abby) but she is still happy to be on this side of the grass (snow). Abby was an AWESOME trail leader, only overshadowed by her sire's need to be a single lead.

A word from Abby's sponsor:
From Kim Lavsa: In memory of my dearest Apache, who was 15 1/2 when she passed. The day before she died she was out enjoying the park. She'd also wake me up in the middle of the night because she wanted to sleep outside. She was just the best!!!

Kim Lavsa
CeCe
CeCe
Quinault's Ur Breakin M'Heart WTDX
Cece is another one of my retired leaders-and one of the sweetest of girls....with people! She is not one to tolerate any nonsense out of other dogs, however! I never had any trouble with her on team, I think because a) she would rather work than scrap and b) she trusted and respected me. But off team, a different dog! Nothing she enjoyed more than a good scrap!! Cece is now running part time on the puppy training team, and enjoying her golden years. She is also looking for the "perfect" home where she can be an only dog and resident couch potato!

A word from CeCe's sponsor:
From Sally Margolin: I had a big Mal girl for 14 years who, like CeCe, was a lover...of people. Gotta love those alpha girls! I am happy to sponsor this beautiful girl in memory of my big dog, Champion. Keep keepin' those puppies in line, CeCe!
